Billies and The Emporium are both situated next door to each other on Victoria Road in Netherfield, (just opposite Jackie Bells Pub).
Both shops are owned and run by Caroline and Jaz, who have been partners for over 6 years. Caroline moved into Netherfield in 1998, and met Jaz soon afterwards whilst both working for a local company. Previously to this Caroline worked in Advertising, Marketing and Sales for companies such as British Airways, Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and more recently Menzies Hotels. Having spent all of her life working for someone else, she felt that it was time to do it for herself, and together with Jaz, who had previously run his own businesses in the North; they decided to look locally so that they could build a business together. As Netherfield is situated well for a ‘niche market’ shop, and was also Caroline’s home they decided that between them they could actually put something good back into Netherfield, and hopefully encourage some new shops to the area, benefiting the local community..
When the shop that is now Billies became empty they decided to go all out and have a go; so Billies was born. ‘Billie’ is actually and Indian word for Cat and this is the name that was chosen for this magical little shop, because to Jaz and Caroline Cats are very special and very magic.
Billies specialises in Gothic style, and has everything that you could possibly wish for from candles, crystals, spells, bath potions, jewellery, smoking accessories, and gifts to clothes, bags and belts. This is the darkside……………….however ‘The Emporium’ is the light side and specialises in furniture from India and the Far East, beautiful hand crafted and unusual gifts, home fragrances and Wood carvings - from life size Giraffes to leather Tigers. Caroline and Jaz name each animal individually so that when they are sold they become a new member of someone’s family.
Because both believe strongly that customer service is paramount, you can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome at both Billies and Billies The Emporium.
