The Gedling Gala has been running annually for 31 years, with the exception of the water logged summer of 2007. This is an opportunity for the Gedling Village community to meet and for local groups and organizations to display their projects and raise some funds. Entertainment is organised to reflect local talent and the event is financed by sponsorship and by charging a fee for entrance and for stalls.

In spite of an early morning shower the Gala Committee managed to get Willow Park set up on time and the afternoon turned out to be a warm summery event. Some new activities were tried this time, aiming to interest youngsters and ‘The Beach’ attracted lots of sandcastle makers and linked well with the experiments in making rockets. A ‘Performance Marquee’ provided a selection of entertainment from a Clarinet Group to individual singers and a pop group from local schools.
Many thanks to the 100s who came along and supported the performers and activities and ensured there would be funds to organise the 2009 Gala.
