The speed cameras that local people fought for in Colwick have at last become operational. We hope this will slow the speeds of the lorries going toward the Industrial Estate. There is an overall review going on of speed limits across the County. Please let us know your views.
Please see letter from our Joint Health Committee (County and City) which has been sent to the PCT.

Dear Ms Winstanley
Colwick Vale Surgery
It has been bought to our attention, through public concern, that Gedling Primary Care Trust is to close the Colwick Vale surgery. This will result in a significant change to the services experienced by existing and future patients, and as such is a substantial variation/development to the health services received by the patients of Colwick Vale.
Section 7 of the Health and Social Care Act 2001 requires NHS bodies to consult relevant overview and scrutiny committees on any proposals for substantial variations or developments of health services. Nottinghamshire County Councils Health Select Committee is the relevant Overview and Scrutiny Committee for Gedling PCT. To date no contact has been made with the Select Committee either to consult or even to inform of this significant change to service provision.
I believe that a final decision is to be taken on this issue at a meeting on 16 May 2006. When would it be your intention to inform the Select Committee on this substantial variation in service provision?
Yours sincerely
Councillor James Napier

Cllr John Clarke and James O'Riordan have recently spoken to residents affected by the totally unacceptable behaviour of lorries using the Private Road near Mile End Road. A petition of residents collected by the Colwick Action Group was presented to full Council on 9th February 2005. We will keep you informed of developments.
Speed cameras are due to be fitted to roads around the Colwick Industrial Estate to prevent large lorries speeding near residents homes and nearby roads
Improved lighting has already been fitted and new and clearer road markings are due to be painted in the near future. The Colwick Labour Team Cllr. John Clarke and James ORiordan are keen to eventually see all heavy vehicles banned from the Mile End Road access and forced to use the Private Road Number 1.
The campaign for better traffic management, lighting and road markings has been supported by the local Labour Team, the Colwick Parish Council and the Colwick Residents Action Group.
